US President Donald Trump has said he is going to significantly increase duties for India. In his social network Truth Social He explained that this decision is due to the fact that the country continues to purchase huge volumes of Russian oil.
"India not only buys huge amounts of Russian oil, but also sells most of that oil on the open market at a huge profit. They don't care how many people in Ukraine die at the hands of the Russian war machine," Trump wrote.
The US President stressed that he was unhappy with India's failure to respond to his threats. That is why he decided to announce an increase in tariffs against the country.
We will remind that previously, US President's advisor Stephen Miller accused India of financing the Russian war against Ukraine. He emphasized that India continues to purchase Russian oil.
India has found a replacement for Russian oil - what is known
Earlier, Reuters, citing several anonymous market sources, wrote that India's largest oil refining company, Indian Oil Corp. purchased 7 million barrels of oil at a tender from the USA, Canada and the Middle East. The agency's interlocutors linked this purchase of raw materials to the need to replace Russian oil.
Journalists noted that the tender took place after Indian state-owned oil refining companies suspended purchases of Russian oil due to reduced discounts, as well as against the backdrop of additional EU sanctions.
