Hamas Response and Casualties

A video captured by a security camera showed the moments before and after the Israeli attack in Qatar against senior Hamas officials. The footage shows the moment the explosives hit the house where they were meeting.

According to official information, the operation targeted senior Hamas leaders, who are believed to be responsible for planning and carrying out the October 7 massacre and waging the war against Israel. The offensive, supported by the Air Force, used precision weapons and relied on additional intelligence to reduce the risk of civilian casualties.

Israeli authorities claimed that before launching the attack, they implemented specific measures to minimize harm to bystanders, highlighting the use of advanced technology and intelligence gathering as part of their strategy. The Hamas leaders targeted in the operation have been at the forefront of the organization's activities for years, according to the official version.

Israel claimed responsibility for the attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday took"full responsibility" for Israel's attack on Qatar, after media reports said the country informed the United States before the bombing.

“Today’s action against Hamas’s top terrorist leaders was a completely independent Israeli operation. Israel initiated it, carried it out, and bears full responsibility,” the president’s office said in a statement, without directly mentioning Qatar.

Netanyahu said he ordered the attacks, following a deadly shooting in Jerusalem a day earlier claimed by the Palestinian militant group.

“Yesterday, following the deadly attacks in Jerusalem and Gaza, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed all security agencies to prepare for the possibility of attacking Hamas leaders,” said a joint statement by Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Hamas claims responsibility for the attack on Jerusalem

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades released a statement on Telegram saying: “The Al-Qassam Brigades announce their responsibility for the shooting attack that took place yesterday (Monday) morning... near the Ramot settlement junction, which is located on the lands of our beloved Jerusalem.”

He also stressed that it was a "high-quality operation" that "caught Israeli security forces by surprise." "It is a clear message that their attempts to dry up the sources of resistance will only result in the shedding of the blood of their Nazi soldiers and criminal settlers, where they least expect it," he added.

“We underline the failure of all the occupation’s attempts to create a state of deterrence through collective punishment against our people. These miserable attempts will only spark a bigger explosion in its ugly face,” he said, adding that “the war of extermination and aggression against the holy sites, the land, and the (Palestinian) people will confront the people’s steadfastness and courageous resistance.”
