The National Police reported that in Lviv a well-known public and political figure of Ukraine, born in 1971, was killed. The head of the Lviv Regional Military (State) Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, in Telegram confirmed that this is Andriy Parubiy, the former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.
"All relevant services were involved. The victim died before the arrival of doctors," he wrote.
The National Police, in turn, said that at around noon, a report of shooting in the Sykhiv district of Lviv was received by number 102.
"The deceased is a well-known public and political figure born in 1971," the National Police said in a statement. Telegram, before the official publication of the politician's name.
The publication also reports that law enforcement officers are working to identify the shooter and his location.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also reacted to the event."The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have just reported on the first known circumstances of the terrible murder in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy was killed. My condolences to his family and friends," he wrote in Telegram.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi also wrote about the incident."Today, the most important thing is for law enforcement agencies to find the killer and establish all the circumstances. This is a security issue in a warring country, where, as we see, there are no absolutely safe places," he noted. He also asked journalists to be understanding of the situation and not to ask for additional comments.
