Israel’s airstrikes on the headquarters of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in the Qatari capital, Doha, have sparked widespread condemnation, with many denouncing it as "a serious violation of international law" and Qatar’s sovereignty.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Palestinian resistance movement Islamic Jihad strongly condemned the targeting of a meeting of Hamas leaders, labeling it “a fully criminal act” that disregards humanitarian standards, values, and the most basic international laws and norms.

The resistance movement said this “heinous” act of targeting reaffirms Israel’s commitment to perpetuating bloodshed in the ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people, posing a significant threat that cannot be overlooked.

The Islamic Jihad held the administration of US President Donald Trump responsible for allowing the regime to act without restraint, particularly following the White House's endorsement of a “Trump proposal.”

Additionally, Hussein al-Sheikh, the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), condemned the “heinous” attack, saying it “constitutes a serious violation of international law and the sovereignty of the State of Qatar."

He said the attack “is considered a threat to security and stability in the region.”

Lebanon’s Hezbollah also issued a statement condemning the Israeli airstrikes on Doha.

Hezbollah said that the attack targeting Hamas leaders, who were reviewing the US proposal, clearly proves that the criminal Israeli regime is neither interested in negotiations nor seeking a resolution.

“Instead, it continues to pursue its bloody agenda rooted in killing, destruction, and annihilation,” the statement read.

Mahdi al-Mashat, the head of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, urged Arab and Muslim nations to “pay attention” to Israel’s plans before it’s too late.

“We warn against a formula for the violations of all countries in the region,” Mashat said.

“What happened in Doha will happen again and more in the rest of the countries if we do not all unite in confronting the Zionist threat.”

Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the headquarters of Hamas in Doha, in what Israeli media described as an"assassination operation."

The airstrikes came as Hamas leaders had reportedly convened to discuss the latest US proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Trump had called on Hamas to accept his proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, issuing what he called his"last warning" to the Palestinian group.

An unnamed Israeli official told Israel's Channel 12 that President Trump had given the green light for the Israeli strike on Doha.

A senior Israeli official told Israel's Channel 13 that Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya and Zaher Jabarin, chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau in the West Bank, were in the meeting when it was struck.

Reports also suggested that longtime Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, whom Israel tried to assassinate in Jordan in 1997, was present at the meeting as well.

Hamas sources, however, said the leadership delegation, headed by al-Hayya, survived the attack.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the “cowardly Israeli attack”, calling it a violation of international law and a threat to Qatar's security.
