"They are asking for the public's help in identifying this individual. These are the first photos that law enforcement has released of a person they believe may be involved in the death of Chris Kirk," the BBC reported.
As US law enforcement continued its search for the killer of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk on Thursday, CNN's chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst John Miller noted that the shooter's apparent professionalism could complicate law enforcement's work.
An analyst speaking on CNN television mentions the shooter's careful planning, skill, and accuracy of the shot.
He told CNN's Kaitlan Collins that snipers tend to be carefully vetted and"methodical, patient and self-reliant" people.
"This is the kind of person who would have planned to enter quietly, try to be unnoticeable, fire a shot, complete the mission, take the weapon and leave little evidence of the crime, so I think it will be very difficult for law enforcement to move this investigation forward," Miller noted.
Earlier, officials said they believed the shooter fired one shot at one person and that it was a targeted attack.
The single shot shows that"the man is not new to shooting," Mr. Miller said, and perhaps that is what, he said, could ultimately help officers uncover the full truth.
"This is someone who knew exactly what he was doing and is probably known to others. And that could be useful for law enforcement," the analyst noted.
"As someone with many years of shooting experience, I can say that this was not an amateur," he added.
ELTA reminds that Ch. Kirk was the leader of the largest conservative youth movement in the United States, which he founded in 2012 at the age of 18, and a close associate of not only US President Donald Trump, but also Vice President J. D. Vance. He was killed around noon on Wednesday during a political event on the campus of Utah Valley University.
