This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. On the morning of September 3, a grand ceremony was held in Tiananmen Square in Beijing to commemorate the occasion. With an imposing military parade, China joined the peoples of the world in commemorating this historic day and building an even brighter future. Sixty-one foreign heads of state and government, high-level representatives of relevant countries, leaders of international organizations, and former officials attended the event.

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech during the commemoration, emphasizing that the Chinese People's War of Resistance was a crucial component of the World Anti-Fascist War. With immense national sacrifices, the Chinese people made a significant contribution to preserving human civilization and safeguarding world peace. History reminds us that the fate of humanity is intertwined, and that only through equal treatment, harmonious coexistence, and mutual assistance can countries maintain common security, eradicate the roots of war, and prevent historical tragedies from recurring.

President Xi also emphasized that the Chinese nation is a great people, unafraid of oppression and growing stronger on its own. At that time, faced with a life-or-death struggle between righteousness and evil, light and darkness, progress and reaction, the Chinese people, united by a spirit of common resistance, stood up and resisted. They fought for national survival, the revitalization of their nation, and justice for humanity. Today, humanity once again faces a choice: peace or war, dialogue or confrontation, win-win cooperation or zero-sum. The Chinese people stand firmly on the side of what is historically correct and the progress of human civilization, championing the path of peaceful development, and working hand in hand with all peoples to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

History teaches us that momentary strength may be in power, but ultimate victory, lasting for centuries, lies in reason. As a stable, positive, and progressive force in the international community, China has always been a steadfast defender, maintainer, and promoter of world peace and development. Since the founding of New China, we have never started a war or invaded a single inch of other countries' territory. China is the only nation in the world that has enshrined in its Constitution a commitment to peaceful development and the only nuclear power to promise not to be the first to use nuclear weapons. The country firmly upholds the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, being the largest provider of peacekeeping troops among the permanent members of the Security Council and the second-largest contributor to the UN Peacekeeping Forces budget, making a notable contribution to the maintenance of world peace.

We remember history not to perpetuate hatred, but to build a better future. Eighty years after victory in the war, what humanity needs is not the law of the jungle, but a shared future; not to subvert the post-war international order, but to preserve the results of the victory of World War II. Looking to the future, China is willing to work with all countries, including Brazil, with the concept of a shared future. We must draw wisdom from history and shoulder the responsibilities of our era, sailing in the same boat and together building a community with a shared future for humanity. Let us strive together to build a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity, and for an even more beautiful tomorrow for human society!
