Bolsonaro shows off his electronic ankle bracelet and says it's a 'huge humiliation'

00:29

BRASÍLIA – Former president Jair Bolsonaro exposed the electronic ankle bracelet he started wearing on Friday, the 18th. He called the device “maximum humiliation”.

"I didn't kill, I didn't traffic. This is the ultimate humiliation. He's an innocent person," he said."What matters to me is God's law."

Bolsonaro showed off the device after a meeting with opposition deputies and senators in the Chamber of Deputies on Monday, 21st.

His exit from the legislative chamber was tumultuous. As photographers and cameramen crowded together to capture images of the president, the one in front of him was knocked down.

Representative Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), for example, was injured in the face during the melee—according to the congressman's office, he was hit by a microphone canopy. He suffered a cut"under his eye" and began bleeding, but is now okay.

A small table in the Chamber was also destroyed, scattering shards of glass throughout the Green Room of the House.

Before showing off the ankle bracelet himself to journalists, the former president had posed for deputies during a meeting in the Chamber.

On Friday, Bolsonaro said that the ankle bracelet would have the objective of inflicting a “supreme humiliation” . That day, he refused to show the device .

Congressman André Fernandes (PL-CE) posted a photo on his social media account. Bolsonaro is banned from using social media by a decision by Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

Last week, in interviews, the former president refused to show the equipment, claiming it was shameful.

The former president repeated the pose for congressman Maurício do Vôlei (PL-MG), who published a similar image.
