Veracruz, Ver. Two men were arrested and are being investigated by the Attorney General's Office of the State of Veracruz, for their probable participation in the deprivation of liberty of the retired teacher and taxi driver, Irma Hernández.

The Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of the Navy, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministerial Police carried out an operation in Cerro Azul, in the northern part of the state, which resulted in the arrest of these two individuals.

Víctor Manuel “N” and José Eduardo “N” are identified as members of an organized crime group and alleged participants in the privatization of the teacher's freedom.

During the operation, vehicles, firearms, ballistic cartridges, a knife, cell phones, cash, dried green grass with characteristics similar to marijuana, and a substance with characteristics similar to crystal meth were seized.

"They are being investigated for their possible involvement in the deprivation of liberty of the victim, identified by the initials I.H.C., a retired teacher and taxi driver, who was reported missing on July 18 and whose body was found," the FGE stated.

It's worth remembering that Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García reported that Irma Hernández died of a heart attack after being assaulted by her captors.

The case of the teacher and taxi driver's deprivation of liberty went viral after a video was released in which she is seen being forced by armed men to send a message to her fellow taxi drivers urging them to pay the extortion fees they are subjected to.
