Through an executive order, the Donald Trump administration in the United States announced a new series of tariffs for most countries. This was done through a list of nations along with the percentage of tariffs they will face.
Colombia does not appear in this table published by the White House, given that there was no agreement between the US government and that of Gustavo Petro.
Since Colombia is not on the list of countries announced by the White House, the rate is understood to be 10%. However, the economic sectors impacted by President Trump's new decision will review the document tonight and expect to make a statement tomorrow.
The new customs tariffs range from 10% to 41%, with the highest for Syria, while the European Union (EU), Japan, and South Korea will be subject to 15%. Washington increased the surcharges for Costa Rica, Bolivia, and Ecuador by 5% to 15%, and kept the surcharges for Venezuela (15%) and Nicaragua (18%) unchanged, introduced in April.
The new surcharges will begin on August 7, seven days after the originally announced date.
