The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said it has enough food aid to cover the entire Gaza Strip for three months and confirmed its readiness to bring aid into the Strip in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of its residents amid the dire humanitarian crisis.

According to the Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, the agency's director-general, Philippe Lazzarini, wrote on Twitter on Thursday evening that"UNRWA has food, medicine, and other essential supplies for Gaza," where the United Nations has declared a famine.

"We have enough to feed the entire population for the next three months," he added.

"The ceasefire agreement is a breakthrough for people who have suffered bombardment, displacement, loss, and the loss of loved ones for two years," Lazzarini said, praising the anticipated return of"Palestinian hostages and detainees to their families after their intense suffering."

He continued,"UNRWA has long been the subject of criticism from the Israeli authorities, who have raised their rhetoric against it since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, accusing it of"bias" and banning its activities on its territory earlier this year."

"More than 660,000 children are eagerly awaiting their return to school," he said, noting that UNRWA teachers are ready to help them.

He called on"all member states to support UNRWA in its work to assist those in need during the coming critical period."
