Washington. The United States has attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, US President Donald Trump announced today, thus directly joining Israel's attempt to dismantle Iran's nuclear program.

The attack would represent a risky gamble to weaken a former enemy amid the threat of retaliation from Tehran that could spark a broader regional conflict.

In a post on Truth Social, the president reported that a"full load of bombs" was dropped on the Iranian facility located in Fordow.

"All planes are returning home safely," Trump added, before congratulating the"great American warriors" who carried out the attack.

US and Israeli officials have said that U.S. stealth bombers and a 30,000-pound bunker-buster bomb that only they can carry offered the best chance of destroying heavily fortified, deeply buried facilities linked to Iran's nuclear program.

“No other military in the world could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” the president concluded.

Yesterday, Trump claimed that Tehran could produce a functional nuclear weapon within weeks. This directly contradicted testimony given in May by US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who stated that the intelligence community continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon.

Earlier this week, Trump said he would make his decision on whether to attack within two weeks, citing a"substantial possibility of negotiations with Iran taking place in the near future."

Trump said Wednesday that Iranian negotiators should have accepted a deal his administration previously proposed during talks over the past two months.

“They should have made the deal. I offered them an excellent deal,” Trump said. “They should have made that deal in 60 days. We talked about it, and in the end they decided not to, and now they wish they had, and they want to meet, but it's late, but they want to meet, and they want to come to the White House.”

Address to the nation at 10 p.m.: Trump

Minutes after announcing Washington's military offensive, Trump announced that he would address the nation.

"I will address the nation at 10:00 p.m. at the White House regarding our successful military operation in Iran. This is a historic moment for the United States, Israel, and the world. Iran must now agree to end this war," the tycoon said.

No radioactive material at sites attacked by US: Iran

Iranian state media, cited by Al Jazeera, claimed that there is no radioactive material at the sites attacked by the United States.

The IRNA news agency quoted an Iranian public broadcasting official as saying:"There are no radiation-causing materials at these three nuclear sites," Al Jazeera reported.
