The Halytskyi District Court of Lviv has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 60 days without the right to post bail for the suspect in the murder of the People's Deputy, former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy.

This was reported by the press service of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Ukrinform reports.

"The suspect in the case of the murder of the People's Deputy of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy was given a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 60 days without the right to post bail," the report says.

The prosecutor's office noted that the actions of the 52-year-old Lviv resident were qualified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 1 of Article 115 (intentional murder) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons).

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

As Ukrinform reported, before the start of the court hearing, the suspectadmitted to committing the murder in a conversation with journalists.

On August 30, former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, MP Andriy Parubiy, was shot dead in Lviv. The attacker fired eight shots.

On the night of August 31 to September 1, a murder suspect was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region.

On September 1, the head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office signed a suspected charge against a 52-year-old Lviv resident in the Parubiy murder case.

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, and the Prosecutor General's Office believe that Russian special services may have been involved in organizing Parubiy's murder.

On September 1, a public evening of remembrance and a farewell ceremony for Andriy Parubiy was held on Independence Square in Kyiv.

Today Andriy Parubiy is being said goodbye in Lviv. He will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
