Local authorities in the Safi region reported that, according to the data available up to Monday morning, the death toll from the exceptional thunderstorms that hit the region on Sunday evening has risen to 37.

Regarding the infected persons, 14 people were recorded as having received medical treatment at Mohammed V Hospital in Safi, including two people who are in the intensive care unit.

The interventions of the public authorities, civil protection services, public forces, and all stakeholders continue in field search and rescue operations, and in providing support and assistance to the affected population.

In this context, the local authorities in the Safi region stressed the need to raise the level of vigilance, adopt the highest levels of caution and adherence to safety measures, in light of the severe climatic fluctuations that Morocco is currently experiencing, in order to ensure the preservation of lives and property and reduce potential risks.
