A huge controversy has erupted in the last few hours and has Diego Molano, president of ETB, in the eye of the storm.
It all started with statements he made in a political control debate in the Bogotá Council, in which he compared the company to a single mother.
The statement was made at the time when she was questioning how, when there is a change of administration in the capital—that is, every four years—nothing remains the same.
“ETB is like a single mother. Every four years a single mother gets a different boyfriend and the children say: ‘The new stepfather arrived.’ And every four years with a different stepfather and each stepfather wants to do different things,” she commented.
These words sparked strong criticism against Molano, and the video quickly went viral on social media. In fact, the president was called sexist.
House Representative María Fernanda Carrascal was one of those who harshly questioned him, reminding him that she was a single mother, but making it clear that she has never depended on any man to provide for her daughter.
“I work hard and face many barriers and threats from the system, but I am one because I wanted to, and under privilege; however, the majority of single mothers are, forced by irresponsible men who abandon them or by the conflict that kills their partners,” she wrote.

Several council members also protested the example set by the top leader of ETB.
In light of the controversy surrounding the incident, Diego Molano decided to speak out and apologize for his expression.
He did so through a video on X's account in which, among other things, he pointed out that he feels total admiration for single mothers.
"I want to reaffirm the apologies I presented to the Bogotá Council for a mistaken comparison I made about single mothers," he said.
The telecommunications company official stated that he has many single mothers in his family, whom he sees as role models for the way they struggle to get ahead.
