The Israeli army confirmed on Sunday the assassination of “Hezbollah chief of staff” Haytham Ali Tabatabai, in a raid that targeted a building in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The Israeli army said in a statement that, under the direction of the Military Intelligence Directorate, the Air Force carried out a strike in the Beirut area that resulted in the assassination of Haytham Ali Tabatabai, “the chief of staff of Hezbollah.”
Hezbollah official Mahmoud Qamati had earlier confirmed that the raid targeted a senior military leader, without revealing his identity or fate, while the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 5 people were killed and 28 others were injured in the air strike.
