The UN Security Council will meet on Sunday afternoon for an emergency meeting to discuss the United States' strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.

As Ukrinform's own correspondent in New York reports, the initiators of the meeting at Tehran's request were Russia, China, and Pakistan, who proposed a draft resolution demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Middle East.

It is not yet known when the vote will take place.

According to Reuters, the draft resolution condemns attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, but without mentioning specific states.

The US is expected to veto such a document.

As Ukrinform reported, President Donald Trump previously announced that US forces had destroyed key Iranian nuclear facilities.

Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said on Sunday that the United States and Israel do not deserve any condemnation, but rather gratitude for making the world a safer place.
