US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he has begun organizing a summit between the leaders of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to be followed by three-way talks in which he would participate.
"At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin and began preparations for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelensky," Trump said after hosting the Ukrainian and European leaders at the White House.
“After that meeting, we will have a trilateral meeting, in which the two presidents and I would participate,” he added.
Trump also said Monday after talks with European leaders that Europe could provide security guarantees to Ukraine as part of a peace deal with Russia, with Washington playing a coordinating role.
"At the meeting, we discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, which could be provided by various European countries, in coordination with the United States," Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
