Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today confirmed an army strike against the spokesman for the armed wing of Hamas, known as Abu Obeida, without being able to say at this time whether he is alive or dead.
In statements he made before the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said, according to a statement from his office:
Netanyahu: I hope he is no longer with us
We carried out a strike against the Hamas spokesman (...) Abu Obeida. I hope he is no longer with us, but I note that there is no one from Hamas to clarify this question.
Yesterday, the Israeli army announced that it had struck a key Hamas terrorist in Gaza City, without identifying him, but Israeli media reported that he was Abu Obeida.
Government Council for Gaza
Benjamin Netanyahu is convening a government council today, Sunday evening, to discuss the occupation of the city.
Last night, Israeli forces bombed the Gaza suburbs overnight, destroying homes and forcing even more families to flee the area.

On Saturday, the head of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoliaric, said that evacuating the city would cause a massive population movement that no other area in the Gaza Strip is able to cope with, amid severe shortages of food, shelter and medical supplies.
At the same time, Hamas confirmed today the death of one of its leaders, Mohammed Sinwar, three months after the Israeli army announced that it had killed him in a strike in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
