The confrontation between President Gustavo Petro and former President Álvaro Uribe continues, which in this new episode began when the current head of state suggested to his predecessor that he appear before the JEP to give his version of the armed conflict in the country.

Well, Uribe Vélez had already told him that he would only have “at least some honor to even be able to make that suggestion” the day he agreed to undergo a toxicology test.

“When you renounce the pardon for which I voted, clarify the money you received in dark pockets, take a toxicological exam, and when Juan Manuel Santos asks the Americans to publish the Odebrecht dossier, you will have at least some honor to even be able to make that suggestion,” Uribe had told Petro.

The president was quick to respond, telling him that he was not suffering from any kind of intoxication and even denied having been pardoned by Colombian institutions."I am not intoxicated, I have not shed liters of blood, neither mine nor anyone else's, nor do I like liquor. I do not suffer from intoxication or other spiritual ills, others are intoxicated by power and crime, I maintain my free spirit. I have no pardon to renounce, I never received it," Petro reproached Uribe.

He added: "I was in jail, a prisoner, and they didn't give me house arrest. They did torture me for seven days, and the Supreme Court exonerated me for the money from a bag in a video that her friend posted without sound, because it conclusively proved that it was money from my campaign and was recorded in the 2006 campaign books."

Petro reiterated his demand that Uribe appear before the peace tribunal created with the signing of the 2016 Peace Agreement, also telling him that both parties can attend that forum in a"truth pact."

“So you can proceed, former President Uribe. I said we should make a pact of truth, I am willing for the two of us to go to the JEP,” wrote the head of state on his X account.
