Sources revealed, according to Sky News Arabia, on Thursday, details related to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas.
An Egyptian source close to the negotiations taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh said,"An agreement has been reached on a complete ceasefire, with the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from 70 percent of the Gaza Strip, and the simultaneous release of prisoners on both sides."
During a meeting at the White House on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump received a handwritten note from Secretary of State Marco Rubio informing him that an agreement on the Gaza Strip was"very close" and asking for his approval to announce this on social media.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted Israeli officials as saying,"The Gaza agreement will be signed today, Thursday, and the first release will take place either Saturday or Sunday."
For its part, Reuters reported that a meeting is taking place between Hamas' chief negotiator, Khalil al-Hayya, and the head of Egyptian intelligence to put the final touches on a historic agreement.
This development comes after Trump announced that he may head to the Middle East at the end of this week, considering that the negotiations underway for four days in Egypt to establish an implementation mechanism for his plan to end the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas are"progressing very well."
