"She's very smart. She's very neutral. She's like me - she would like there to be no more victims," the US president said.
Melania's influence on her husband has gained public attention after a July 14 press conference in the Oval Office, where Trump gave details about what happened after his conversation with Vladimir Putin.
"I come home and I say to the first lady, 'I spoke to Vladimir [Putin] today, we had a good conversation.' And she says, 'Oh, really? Russia just attacked another city,'" Trump recounted the situation.
The president admitted that the phrase made him think about the behavior of the Russian dictator. After this statement, several enthusiastic posts about Melania began to appear on social networks, mostly from Ukrainian users. She was given such nicknames as "Ukrainian ally in the White House" and "secret agent".
The Times newspaper recalls that Melania comes from Slovenia, which was formerly part of Yugoslavia, so it is very likely that she understands quite well from personal experience the threats posed by Moscow's aggressive policies."She has more experience than many members of the government who are trying to impose their views on her," noted Trump biographer Mary Jordan.
