This August 11, Miguel Uribe Turbay died after two months of fighting following the attack he suffered on June 7, 2025, as confirmed by his wife María Claudia Tarazona.

Uribe Turbay, 39, a senator from the right-wing Democratic Center party, had been hospitalized since the day of the attack at the Santa Fe Foundation clinic in Bogotá, where he underwent several surgeries and, although he showed some improvement, he never overcame his critical condition.

Uribe Turbay was shot twice in the head and once in the left leg while leading a political rally in a park in the Bogotá neighborhood of Modelia as part of his political activity ahead of the 2026 presidential elections, in which he hoped to obtain the nomination of the Democratic Center.

When will Miguel Uribe's funeral be?

The Congress of the Republic reported that the senator of the Democratic Center will be in the burning chamber at the following times:

  • August 11, 3:00 p.m. Exclusive admission for family and friends.
  • August 12, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Public admission.
  • August 13, 9:00 a.m. Tribute at the Congress of the Republic exclusively for family members and transfer to the Primate Cathedral of Colombia.

On Wednesday, August 13, after his transfer to the Primate Cathedral of Colombia, his funeral will take place.
