The ceasefire was violated, and the IDF attacked: The IDF attacked this afternoon (Wednesday) in the Zeitoun neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip, in response to an incident in the Khan Yunis area in which terrorists fired at soldiers on the Yellow Line. The attack killed the Zeitoun battalion commander, who also serves as the brigade commander, along with a senior member of Hamas's naval unit in the Strip.

The IDF stated that "terrorists fired towards the area where IDF forces are operating in Khan Yunis, which constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement. There were no casualties among our forces. In response, the IDF, led by the Southern Command, under the direction of the Shin Bet and through the Air Force, began attacking targets of the Hamas terrorist organization throughout the Gaza Strip. IDF forces in the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to act to eliminate any immediate threat. The IDF will continue to act forcefully to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel."
According to the Palestinians, the IDF also attacked in the Khan Yunis area and Shajaiyah, and also near Palestine Square in the center of Gaza City. In these attacks, the Gaza Strip claims, at least 14 people have been identified as dead so far.
Prior to the shooting at soldiers, according to the IDF, another incident occurred, in which the combat team of the"Carmali" (2) Brigade identified terrorists who had crossed the yellow line."The terrorists approached the forces deployed in the northern Gaza Strip, in a way that posed an immediate threat to them," it was reported."Immediately after identification, the forces shot and killed a terrorist to eliminate the threat."
