(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Pyeong-cheon = On the 26th, the People Power Party harshly criticized the summit between President Lee Jae-myung and U.S. President Donald Trump, calling it"humiliating diplomacy" and "an unprecedented diplomatic disaster."

Representative Jang Dong-hyuk said in a press conference held immediately after being elected as representative at the party convention that day,"It was a summit that was impossible to evaluate," and "I said from the beginning that the Lee Jae-myung administration's wrong diplomatic policy would become a crisis for the Republic of Korea, but the concerns are much more serious."

Song Eon-seok, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, met with reporters at the National Assembly and said,"The people must have watched President Lee's humiliating flattery toward President Trump," adding,"As a result, it was humiliating diplomacy that even resulted in an additional $150 billion in investment from companies."

Chairman Song said,"Just before the summit, President Trump mentioned 'purge' and 'revolution' on social media," and claimed,"Considering that he didn't even see him off, let alone hold a joint press conference after the summit, the entire summit process was a diplomatic disaster of all time."

He continued,"It's still unclear what we got other than the photo album (of President Trump)," adding,"The opening of agricultural products, including rice and beef, has not been resolved enough to alleviate the concerns of the people and farmers, and it is not known what tariff rates will be set for steel, aluminum, and semiconductors."

He emphasized,"It was a diplomatic showdown where we didn't even have a chance to properly respond throughout the entire public meeting, and it was humiliating diplomacy where we were treated with contempt from entry, lodging, and even the farewell process," adding,"There are even questions about whether it can be called a summit."

Senior Spokesperson Kwak Gyu-taek said in a commentary,"In front of the entire world, the U.S. President directly expressed concern about the political situation in Korea by mentioning 'church raids' and 'investigations of U.S. military bases,'" and evaluated it as "a summit that produced virtually no tangible results."

He continued,"This president has invited controversy by asking President Trump to 'meet Kim Jong-un,' and by acting as if he is representing the North Korean regime," and retorted,"This is not the time for the Lee Jae-myung administration to leisurely praise itself for the exchange of normal diplomatic rhetoric between leaders."

When Rep. Kim Gun, the People Power Party floor leader on the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, was asked on SBS Radio what score he would give the South Korea-U.S. summit out of 100, he answered,"I think it would be okay to give it around 50 points because it seems like we've taken on a lot of new burdens and haven't gained much."

Rep. Kim said,"I don't think the president went to the U.S. to have a good meal," and pointed out,"Shouldn't he have received a commitment from President Trump on several very important issues for us (such as the semiconductor tariffs)?"

Rep. Na Kyung-won criticized the meeting on Facebook, saying,"It can be said that this was diplomacy that placed a heavier burden on the shoulders of the people in order to save the face of the president," and "It was a meeting that showed no real benefits that the people could gain."
