The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, today, Monday, that Iraq's participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit comes in response to the joint invitation extended by the government of the United States of America and the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by Alsumaria News,"Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is participating in the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, where he is heading the delegation of the Republic of Iraq to the summit being held today in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs."

The ministry added,"This participation comes in response to the joint invitation extended by the government of the United States of America and the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza, achieving a permanent ceasefire, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, and launching a political process that contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region."

The ministry continued,"A number of leaders and countries from the region and the world are participating in the summit, as part of joint efforts aimed at enhancing regional and international security," noting that "this participation comes in response to the joint invitation extended by the government of the United States of America and the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss regional and international efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza, achieving a permanent ceasefire, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, and launching a political process that contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region."
