:247 - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum declared this Monday (3) that she will not allow the intervention of any foreign country in Mexican territory under the pretext of combating drug trafficking. The statement occurred amid speculation that the United States is planning military incursions into the Latin American country.

According to information from Actualidad RT, Sheinbaum responded to rumors broadcast by NBC News, according to which the US government is preparing to send troops and intelligence agents to Mexico to act against the cartels. On previous occasions, the current president of the United States, Donald Trump, had already offered military"help" to Sheinbaum — a proposal repeatedly rejected by the Mexican leader in the name of national sovereignty.

Defense of sovereignty and criticism of militarization.

In a press conference, Sheinbaum was categorical in distinguishing international cooperation from military interference. “We accept help with information and intelligence, but not intervention. Mexico is a free and sovereign country. The only way to build peace and security is with social justice and a true justice system where there is zero impunity,” she stated.

The president's statements came at a time of national upheaval following the assassination of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, a crime that reignited the debate about violence in Michoacán and strategies to combat drug trafficking.

Sheinbaum assured that there will be no impunity and promised to reinforce the federal government's presence in the state. “The strength of the state is justice. There are those who ask, as happened with the war on drugs, for militarization and war. That didn't work. That's what led to the situation of violence in Michoacán,” he emphasized, referring to the security policy initiated by former President Felipe Calderón in 2006.
