According to local sources, Syrian and US soldiers conducting reconnaissance were fired upon by unidentified individuals. Sources claimed the attack was carried out by members of the ISIS terrorist organization.

SECURITY MEASURES INCREASED IN THE REGION

Following the attack, security measures in and around Palmyra were heightened. Coalition military helicopters and warplanes were reported to be conducting numerous sorties over Palmyra.

Neither Syrian authorities nor the US have yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

It was also reported that illegal groups in the Suweida province in southern Syria launched a drone attack on Syrian army positions. The attack is believed to have been carried out by illegal groups affiliated with Hikmat al-Hajri.

Yesterday, a drone also attacked a vehicle belonging to security forces affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Interior.
