He will then strengthen his presence on the east wing.

NATO will strengthen its presence in eastern NATO countries following the recent incursion of Russian drones into Poland, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced today. Among other things, they will strengthen capabilities designed to defend against drones.

As stated by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, US General Alexus Grynkewich, today he ordered a special operation that will further strengthen the alliance's presence on the eastern flank.

"This military activity will begin in the coming days and will involve a range of capabilities from various allies, including Denmark, France, the United Kingdom and Germany," Rutte said. He and Grynkewich listed the capabilities as French Rafale fighter jets, Danish F-16 fighter jets, as well as air defense and anti-drone capabilities.

NATO, whose troops are already deployed in eight eastern members, is increasing its presence after Polish authorities recorded around 20 incursions by Russian drones into Polish airspace overnight. On Wednesday, Warsaw initiated a consultation within the alliance, which is allowed under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. The members expressed solidarity with Poland.

Kremlin: Pause in peace talks with Ukraine

Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are currently on hold, the Kremlin announced today. However, they assured that communication channels remain open, reports the French news agency AFP.

"Our negotiators have the ability to communicate through channels. But for now, it's probably more accurate to talk about a pause," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

He stressed that it is not possible to"look through rose-colored glasses and expect the negotiation process to yield immediate results".

The three rounds of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine so far have not yielded any concrete breakthrough towards ending the war. The two sides have only agreed to several rounds of exchanges of prisoners of war and the remains of killed soldiers.

In light of the talks with Russia, Ukraine is seeking security guarantees from Western countries to ensure that Moscow respects a potential peace agreement.

It is expected that around 30 countries, united in the so-called coalition of the willing led by France and the United Kingdom, will play a central role in this. For Moscow, the possible deployment of foreign peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, which is supposed to be part of the security guarantees, is unacceptable.

For Kiev, on the other hand, it is unacceptable to give up territory occupied by Russia.
