The President of the United States of America has named a new deadline for Russia to end the war against Ukraine.

As an UNIAN correspondent reports, Trump said this during a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Turnberry (Scotland).

"I'm going to set a new deadline (deadline - UNIAN) for about 10 or 12 days from today. There's no reason to wait," Trump stressed. Speaking about the previous deadline of 50 days to end the war, the White House leader noted that he wanted to be"generous" (generous).

The US president added that there is no progress in the issue of ending the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine. However, for his part, he also said that he does not want to do this to Russia, because he"loves the Russian people," writes Reuters.

"I talked to him [Putin] and it seemed like we were already on the path [to peace]. And then I said: forget it. And I'm not going to talk about it anymore. You know, this has happened too many times, and I don't like it," the US president said.

Trump said that according to updated figures, 7,000 soldiers are dying on the front lines per week in the war between Russia and Ukraine. He said that the future will tell whether"common sense" will prevail and Putin will agree to a deal.

"There could be sanctions and probably tariffs, secondary tariffs," he added.

What is known about Trump's ultimatum?

As UNIAN reported, today, July 28, Trump declared his willingness to reduce the 50-day ultimatum to Russia to a shorter period in order to reach an agreement to end the war.

About this initial term, the US president announced in mid-July He then warned the Russian Federation that otherwise it would face high tariff restrictions and secondary sanctions.

These sanctions may concern third countries, who buy Russian energy resources, such as oil.
