Kyiv – Minutes of terror in Kyiv during the visit of Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil (SPD). At 1:58 p.m. German time (2:58 p.m. Ukrainian time), air raid warnings were issued in ten Ukrainian regions, including the capital Kyiv.

At the time of the alarm, Klingbeil was in the presidential palace, a guest of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The presidential palace is one of the safest places in Ukraine: In 41 months of war, there hasn't been a single attack on the government district; observers suspect an agreement to this effect. And there are large bunkers beneath the presidential palace.

The reason for the alert was the launch of a ballistic missile in western Russia. The missile landed in Khotin, an evacuated town in the Sumy region, in northeastern Ukraine. The alert ended at 2:13 p.m. German time.

Vice Chancellor Klingbeil made a surprise trip to Kyiv early Monday morning, his first trip to the war-torn country as Finance Minister. He brought with him a promise of money!

"Putin should have no illusions that our support for Ukraine could crumble," Klingbeil made clear immediately after his arrival."We remain Ukraine's second-largest supporter worldwide and its largest in Europe. As Finance Minister, I am therefore making a clear commitment today: Ukraine can continue to rely on Germany."
