  • "We hope to resolve the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza by the end of the year." Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, said this, speaking of meetings on these issues this week.
  • The Israeli government's security cabinet meeting concluded "without any discussion of Hamas's latest truce proposal" and without a formal vote on any measures. The executive is reportedly firm in its intention to continue its offensive in the Strip by capturing Gaza City. The ministers are now at a gala dinner where protesters are shouting"celebrate while the hostages starve."
  • The security cabinet meeting convened by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu ended after about three hours. Local media report this.
  • The IDF claims to have identified six Hamas terrorists, including one who participated in the October 7, 2023, massacres, among the 21 victims of the raid on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. Tel Aviv media reported this. The IDF spokesperson released a preliminary report stating that the Golani Brigade targeted the camera at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, believing it"had been placed there by Hamas to monitor the fighters' movements." Tel Aviv media reported this. Israel's Chief of Staff has called for further investigations to determine whether the attack was coordinated with the central command, suggesting that Israeli troops may have acted without the necessary authorizations. Hundreds of protesters are marching toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office in Jerusalem, where the Security Cabinet meeting is currently taking place, demanding the full release of the hostages and a ceasefire agreement, the Times of Israel reports. Leading the march, members of the socialist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair hold a banner reading"We are one step away from a complete torpedo," referring to fears that the government could scuttle a potential hostage-release agreement. Police surrounded the protesters and blocked the road in one direction to allow the march to proceed."First, first, human lives first," protesters chanted as they marched along the street, accusing Netanyahu and his allies of"abandoning the hostages."
  • At least 54 Palestinians have been killed since dawn in the Gaza Strip following Israeli strikes, medical sources told Al Jazeera. Among the victims are nine people who, according to the same sources, were shot while waiting to receive humanitarian aid. A public letter signed today by 209 former European Union ambassadors, senior diplomatic officials, and ambassadors of EU member states calls for urgent action on Israel's war in Gaza and illegal actions in the West Bank. The letter, the Guardian reports, states that if the EU"fails to act collectively, member states must take measures individually or in small groups to uphold human rights and enforce international law, outlining nine possible approaches." These, it says,"include suspending arms export licenses, banning trade in goods and services with illegal settlements, and banning European data centers from receiving, storing, or processing data from Israeli government or commercial sources if it relates to 'Israel's presence and activities in Gaza and elsewhere in the occupied territories.'" "The killing of five journalists, four health workers, and several civilians yesterday in Gaza is completely unacceptable. Civilians and journalists must be protected under international law." "We reiterate our call on Israel to respect international humanitarian law and ensure that these attacks are investigated, and we note the Israeli authorities' statements that a thorough investigation will be conducted," said EU Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni during a press briefing."Humanitarian suffering in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels," he continued."It is terrible what is happening before our eyes."
