Amazon Web Services (AWS) is experiencing a worldwide service outage, affecting platforms hosted on the technology company's servers.
"We have identified a possible cause for the error rates in the US-EAST-1 region. We are working on several parallel paths to accelerate recovery," the company said.
Negócios asked AWS about the reason for the service outage and which infrastructures were affected, particularly in Portugal, with the company referring to"Service health" updates.
Services affected by the Jeff Bezos-founded company's outage include social media, Canva, Zoom, telecommunications services, and artificial intelligence chatbots. OpenAI is one of the companies affected.
In Portugal, platforms such as Snapchat, Vodafone, Roblox, Perplexity, Meo, Fortenite, and Reddit are experiencing service issues. Banks are also experiencing some service interruptions, especially digital ones.
Meanwhile, the company has begun"applying initial mitigations, and we've seen early signs of recovery for some affected services. During this period, requests may continue to fail while we work toward a full resolution." Although some platforms are already operational, AWS warns of"additional latency, which may take longer to fully process."
Thus, the Amazon-owned company admits it is already receiving"significant signs of recovery," with "the majority of requests being processed." Even so, the company continues to work on its backlog of orders.
