Local authorities in the province of Safi reported that following heavy thunderstorms that struck the region and caused exceptional flooding in a very short period (one hour) on the evening of Sunday, December 14, 2025, a preliminary report indicates seven deaths due to the torrents that swept away everything in their path and inundated several homes and businesses. In addition, 20 other people were rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment at Mohammed V Hospital in Safi.

Regarding material losses, the city of Safi suffered particularly significant damage. A preliminary assessment revealed that 70 houses and businesses in the Safi medina, notably on Bir Anzaran Street and Abu Dahab Square, were flooded by rainwater. Approximately 10 vehicles were swept away by the torrents. Furthermore, the section of road connecting Safi to the center of the Ahrara municipality on Provincial Route 2300 was damaged, leading to traffic disruptions on several roads within the city.

Public authorities, all relevant sectors, and all stakeholders have mobilized all available logistical and human resources to respond immediately to this exceptional situation and provide support and assistance to citizens, sources indicate. Efforts are continuing to search for any missing persons and to restore road networks and services throughout the province.
