MEDAN, KOMPAS.com - The flood and landslide disaster in Sibolga City, North Sumatra, has killed eight people since it occurred on Monday (24/11/2025).

However, since the incident, the Mayor of Sibolga who is also a cadre of the Nasdem Party, Ahmad Syukri, could not be contacted.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of Nasdem North Sumatra, Iskandar ST.

"He hasn't been contacted yet, but not just him, all Nasdem cadres there can't be contacted," said Iskandar when contacted by Kompas.com, Thursday (11/27/2025) evening.

Communication Access Disconnected

Iskandar did not want to speculate why Ahmad Syukri could not be contacted because communication access there was indeed cut off.

"There's no communication (there), everything's cut off, no one can be contacted, it's not just the Mayor whose communication has been cut off," he said.

Iskandar also said that the difficulty of communication access made it difficult for the Nasdem Party to provide assistance.

He will seek information on how to enter the Sibolga area, including finding out the whereabouts of Nasdem cadres in Sibolga.

"Tomorrow, we're going to find a way because all the roads are blocked. We're still trying to figure out how. We want to provide assistance, but we don't know the technical details. Many roads are blocked. We're trying to communicate, we want to go. But we can't reach everyone; communication has been cut off," he said.
