"They cannot make any decisions about Ukraine without us," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed in connection with the planned meeting on Friday between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump, the RBC-Ukraine news agency reports.

He expressed hope that Trump was aware of this, and stressed that the meeting between the US president and his Russian counterpart"can certainly be important for bilateral relations between the United States and Russia." Zelensky said on Tuesday that an unfair peace in the war between Ukraine and Russia would not last long and would only lead to Russian forces seizing more Ukrainian territory, Reuters reported, citing his social media post after his phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The conversation was held at the request of the Ukrainian president, the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey announced. The Turkish and Ukrainian presidents discussed bilateral, regional and international issues, BTA reports.

"Imitative, not real, peace will not last long and will only encourage Russia to seize even more territory," Zelensky wrote on social media after the conversation.

Zelensky expressed confidence that a trilateral meeting between Trump, Putin, and himself will eventually take place to end the more than three-year-long war in Ukraine.

Trump and Putin also want to negotiate an end to the war. The US president has repeatedly stated his desire to end the bloodshed as quickly as possible. Earlier, Trump said that he would not make an agreement with Putin on the war in Ukraine because it was not his responsibility, DPA notes.

Ukraine has been defending itself for more than three years with Western support against a full-scale Russian invasion. But Kiev's European allies and the country's leadership fear that Putin and Trump could make a decision without Ukraine's participation, Reuters notes.
