Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington on August 18 and discuss the details of a ceasefire with Russia. He reported this on his Telegram channel.

Zelensky specified that he spoke with Trump first one-on-one, and then with the participation of European leaders. The conversation lasted more than 1.5 hours. The American leader informed Zelensky about the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and the main points of their conversation.

The Ukrainian President supported Trump's proposal for a trilateral summit of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States and Russia. He stressed the importance of involving European colleagues in all stages of the negotiations. In addition, the parties discussed positive signals from Washington regarding participation in ensuring Kyiv's security.

On August 15, Putin and Trump met in Alaska. The presidents' talks lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. Their main topic was the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Zelensky was not present at the summit. After the meeting, the US president said that he had discussed and agreed on many points with the Russian delegation and now the decision to resolve the crisis is in the hands of the Ukrainian president.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted that the topic of holding a trilateral meeting between Putin, Trump and Zelensky had not yet been touched upon. According to him, when the results of the talks between the Russian and American leaders are finally summed up, a further decision will be made on organizing their new bilateral summit.
