U-17 World Cup Qualification Overview

Former Brazilian star Roberto Carlos praised the level that Morocco has reached in organizing major sporting events, stressing that the Kingdom’s joint hosting of the 2030 World Cup finals with Spain and Portugal will make this edition one of the best tournaments in history.

Carlos said in an interview with Hespress: “People in Morocco love football, and I think it is an ideal country to host the 2030 World Cup. This is a huge event and I am very happy to see what it represents for the country. Morocco is a country that loves football like Portugal and Spain, and I am sure that this edition will be one of the greatest tournaments ever because it will be held in countries that love the game.”

The Brazilian star added that organizing the World Cup in Morocco will give fans a unique opportunity to follow the best teams and stars in a distinctive football atmosphere.

Carlos also spoke about the remarkable development of Moroccan football in recent years, saying: “If the first team is good, this reflects positively on the other age groups. The under-20 and under-17 teams have great players; they are young people who are already thinking about joining the first team. I think Morocco is on the right track, and they performed brilliantly in the last World Cup.”

The former Real Madrid legend believes there is a great similarity between Moroccan and Brazilian football in terms of focusing on training and developing talent, adding: “In recent years, Morocco has given great importance to training, and today there are many Moroccan players playing in major European clubs. Brazil and Morocco are very similar in this aspect, as both countries develop talent and push them to become world champions.”

Carlos pointed out that Moroccans are similar to Brazilians in their passion for football, saying: “They love football just like us, they have heroes who perform brilliantly, and we in Brazil feel very happy when we see this similarity between us.”

Carlos addressed a message to the young Moroccan players, urging them to be truly professional and to adopt a winning mentality. He further explained: “My advice to them is to be extremely professional, to strive to create spectacle on the field, and to make people enjoy every match. The most important thing is to have a winning mentality, as this is what makes a player special.”

Regarding the best Moroccan player at the moment, Carlos said: “I love all Moroccan players, but I choose Brahim Diaz, and for me, Achraf Hakimi is an exceptional player; he was with me when I was coaching Castilla in Madrid, and he is a modern right-back with high quality and great discipline. Seeing him now at Paris Saint-Germain playing at the highest level makes me very happy, because it means that the work we did at the beginning has paid off.”

Regarding his predictions for the next World Cup finals in 2026, Roberto Carlos said: “Brazil is always a candidate to win the title, and I hope that Morocco continues its development with the same desire to play and win. No one knows who will be the champion, but the atmosphere among the fans in Morocco and Brazil makes football more enjoyable.”

The Brazilian legend concluded his remarks by saying: “I wish both Morocco and Brazil the best of luck, as they both represent a true passion for football that makes the world enjoy the beautiful game.”
