US President's negotiating team was able to obtain from Kyiv and Moscow the concessions necessary for concluding a peace agreement. The publication writes about this Axios with reference to informed sources.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a two-hour conversation with US presidential advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner tonight. They discussed, among other things, the issues of territories and post-war security guarantees, two sources told Axios.
"A source familiar with the situation said that Witkoff and Kushner gathered information from both sides and forced Putin and Zelensky to make the concessions necessary to reach an agreement," the publication says.
According to insiders, the discussion of the territorial issue has been difficult, but the US is trying to develop"new ideas" to resolve it.
Sources also claim that significant progress has been made on the issue of post-war security guarantees for Ukraine from the US, but more work needs to be done to avoid different interpretations of these guarantees by all parties.
"We need to take all the drafts and brainstorm," a Ukrainian official told Axios.
Further talks and meetings with Witkoff and Kushner are expected later next week.
