US President Donald Trump said Friday that he will speak soon with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to tell him"something very specific," as tensions between the two countries continue to rise over the military deployment ordered by the White House in the Caribbean.

"I will speak with him in the not too distant future, but I can't tell you what I'm going to say to him," the US leader declared in an interview with Fox Radio.

Asked if he would ask him to go into exile from Venezuela, Trump declined to give details of the conversation.

"I'm not going to tell you what I'm going to say to him. I don't. Maybe other politicians will. I can't," the president declared.

"I can't tell you what I'm going to say to him, but I have something very specific to say," he added.

A few days ago, Trump suggested that he might have a conversation with Maduro.

Speculation about a possible military attack on Venezuelan territory is growing, especially after Washington doubled its deployment in the Caribbean, dubbed by the Pentagon as Operation Southern Spear, and destroyed about twenty boats, killing more than 80 people, under the argument of fighting drug trafficking.
