The 28-year-old perpetrator of the brutal murder of a 47-year-old woman, outside her home in Chalandri, on the morning of Monday, August 18, is being taken to prison after pleading guilty.
The 28-year-old is facing charges of intentional homicide in a calm mental state, as well as illegal possession and use of a weapon.
At noon, the accused was brought before the Investigating Officer to apologize for the fatal knife attack on the woman.
According to information, the 28-year-old admitted his act before the Investigating Officer, denying, however, that he had any intent and that he committed the homicide in a calm mental state, as is attributed to him. On the contrary, he claims that he was in a state of rage due to negative comments made by the victim against him.
"I deny that I killed in a calm state of mind. I was amok and did not know what I was doing. I immediately regretted it, but it was too late. I was afraid, that's why I had the knives with me. I wanted to talk to the woman, that's why I was waiting for her outside her house," the defendant claims.
His defense cites mental health issues for the 28-year-old, referring to “peculiar psychopathology.” As stated by the 28-year-old’s attorney, Aristomenis Balaskas, he requested an expert opinion from experts to determine the defendant’s mental state.
After the completion of the apologetic procedure, the investigator and prosecutor temporarily detained the defendant.
The 47-year-old woman received multiple severe stab wounds from the perpetrator, whom she had met in the church cafeteria.
