President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the source of financing for the supply of Tomahawk to Ukraine could be the PURL program, the so-called Mega deal, which is planned to be concluded with the United States, and frozen Russian assets.
The head of state announced this during a joint conversation with journalists with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Answering a question about possible sources of financing for the purchase of Tomahawk missiles, Zelensky suggested that there could be three:"One of the options is the NATO PURL program. We work through it, NATO works. NATO purchases weapons of various kinds from America with its own money and then they transfer to us what we need," Zelensky said.
The second source of financing, according to him, could be a large agreement with the United States - the Mega deal, negotiations on which are still ongoing.
"The second is the story (buying - ed.) directly through Mega deal. This is a big story, we still have to get to it," Zelenskyy noted.
He also noted that funds for Tomahawk missiles could also be taken from frozen Russian assets."A good option for sure," Zelensky said. He also stressed that it was too early to talk about the number and possibilities of Tomahawk missile deliveries.
As reported, US President Donald Trump previously stated that Ukraine could receive Tomahawk cruise missiles if Russia refuses to seek a peaceful settlement.
