In Moscow, there was a fierce attack this morning, when a state of emergency was declared in Russia.

Explosions, fires and chaos in Moscow

In another residential yard, two cars caught fire, allegedly due to the remains of a downed drone. In the village of Golube, locals said that the explosions were so powerful that the walls and windows of their houses shook.

Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin claimed that Russian air defenses allegedly shot down at least 16 drones that were moving towards the city. As a result of the attack, all Moscow airports temporarily suspended operations :

• Domodedovo
• Vnukovo
• Zhukovski

In Kaluga Oblast, residents also reported hearing loud drone overflights and claimed air defense systems had been activated.

Russian air defense shoots down drones

The Russian Defense Ministry later said its air defenses reportedly shot down 93 drones overnight in nine regions, including 19 over the Moscow region.

Kiev has not officially declared its involvement in the attack.
