Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was also present at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in Egypt, where the Gaza ceasefire agreement was celebrated and a supporting document was signed. Orbán arrived at the invitation of Donald Trump, who co-chaired and hosted the entire event, and although Trump seemed to play his famous handshake trick with him at first, in his speech he indicated so much of his support for the Hungarian prime minister that he immediately promised him an election victory in 2026.

During the official one-on-one photo session, the American president also squeezed Orbán's hand for a long time and pulled it towards him: this is an old trick of Trump's, he grabs and, according to reports, squeezes the other person's fingers tightly, then gladly pulls the hand towards him - according to the usual interpretation, this is also a way to signal his dominance. Apparently, the Hungarian Prime Minister also participated in this:

In his speech, Trump, among other leaders, addressed Viktor Orbán at length, greeting each one individually.

“Here is Hungary. Viktor, where is Viktor? Viktor, Viktor, we love Viktor. VIKTOR, that’s how I call you, with a slight accent – Viktor, you are fantastic. I know many people disagree with me, but only what I say counts. You are fantastic. A great leader. I supported you in the last election and you won by 28 percent, so you will do even better now. You will have another election and you will do great. We appreciate you and we are behind you 100 percent”

– he said, looking for Orbán.

(The 28 percent victory is not at all correct, in 2022 Fidesz was ahead of the joint opposition list by 20 percentage points, but it would have been surprising if Trump had quoted a figure exactly.)
