The tension between US President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk continues. The famous businessman asked the US public in a survey he conducted after the new tax bill supported by the Republican administration was passed whether they needed a third political party. When the majority in the survey came out as yes, Musk founded the"America Party".

Famous businessman Elon Musk, co-founder and CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, stated in his post on his social media account that the"American Party" was established.

"The people wanted a new political party with a double majority, so it will happen. When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and bribery, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the Party of America was founded to give you back your freedom," Musk said in his post.

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED A THIRD PARTY

Elon Musk asked his followers on the X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, whether a new political party should be established in the United States.

According to the results of the survey conducted by Musk from his X account, 65.4 percent of Americans voted"yes" for the formation of a new political party, while 34.6 percent said they did not see a need for such a formation.

While nearly 1 million 249 thousand people participated in the survey in question, approximately 2 out of every 3 people in the US agreed that a third political party was needed.

Musk's announcement came after US President Donald Trump signed into law on Friday, July 4, a tax cut and spending bill that Elon Musk strongly opposed.

THE FIGHT BETWEEN MUSK AND TRUMP

Musk was Trump's biggest donor in the 2024 elections and was among the names closest to Trump until May. The two had a bitter disagreement over the tax cut bill, and Musk reiterated his criticisms in recent days, accusing Republicans of"abandoning efforts to bring the United States to the forefront of the electric vehicle and clean energy revolution."

Trump threatened earlier this week to cut off billions of dollars in subsidies Musk's companies receive from the federal government.

Musk had recently stated that if the bill passed, a new political party called the"America Party" would be established. The bill in question was passed in the Senate and House of Representatives and became law with Trump's signature.
