(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporters Lee Dong-hwan and Hwang Yun-gi = It appears that around 60 Koreans detained by Cambodian immigration authorities will be repatriated on the morning of the 18th on a chartered plane.
If they set foot on Korean soil, it is expected to be the largest criminal repatriation operation by a single country. Last September, 49 fugitive criminals from the Philippines were forcibly repatriated on a chartered plane.
According to the National Security Office and police on the 17th, those subject to repatriation will be taken to the relevant police station immediately upon arrival at the domestic airport. They will then be investigated for any criminal charges.
The duality of the individuals, both detained and perpetrators, was considered: they were both accomplices and perpetrators of phishing attacks targeting Koreans. They were caught during a local police crackdown on a criminal network.
South Korean police have applied for and received arrest warrants for them. They are expected to be transported in handcuffs and under strict surveillance.
It has been reported that Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) red notice holders are also included in the list of people subject to extradition.
"Everyone is a suspect and subject to arrest," said the director."A significant number of police officers are going. There are far more escorts than criminal suspects to bring in."
He continued,"After entering the country, you will immediately be taken to an institution under the jurisdiction of the police authorities to undergo the necessary investigation, and legal action will be taken based on the results."
Typically, two detectives accompany each suspect on the repatriation flight.
A large number of security police officers, including anti-terrorism task forces, will be deployed at the Incheon International Airport arrival hall, and hundreds of domestic police officers and medical staff from the police hospital are expected to be mobilized.
