The weather forecast for the next few days does not bring us a summer idyll. During storms, there is a risk of hail, strong gusts of wind, and heavy local downpours.

Saturday afternoon brought a temporary lull in storms, but Saturday evening could bring worsening conditions again, with strong gusts of wind and downpours, and in some places even hail, forecasters at nerje.si.

The Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (ARSO) has issued a yellow warning due to storms and heavy rain across the country, and an orange warning is in effect in the southeastern part of the country from 9 p.m.

In the evening hours, the storms that raged over Croatia in the afternoon are expected to move towards Slovenia, to the southern and eastern areas of our country.

"There is still a risk of hail and gusts of wind during storms, but the most problems will be caused by heavy local downpours, which may be quite stationary in some places due to the location of the high altitude core and changes in winds," they wrote on neurje.si.

The exposed"triangle"

The heavy rainfall could result in flash floods and overflowing waterways. The area between Novo mesto, Zagreb and Karlovac will be particularly exposed, where"exceptional amounts of rainfall may fall until Sunday," the portal added.

Meteorologists stressed that the exact distribution and total amount of precipitation is impossible to predict and that the precipitation radar image in real time may not show the final values, even at the regional level.

Short break on Sunday

On Sunday, it will initially be cloudy and rainy across the country, but during the day the clouds will break in the west, while showers and storms will continue to form elsewhere.

A reversal is expected on Monday. Precipitation and storms will once again cover most of Slovenia from the west, meteorologists predict.
