Hamdi Kılıç, Chief Advisor to the President, who served on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's editorial team since 2007, passed away due to an illness for which he was receiving treatment. Attending the funeral alongside President Erdoğan were Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Director of Presidential Communications Burhanettin Duran, Director of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Director General of Security Mahmut Demirtaş, Türkiye's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Lütfullah Göktaş, AK Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, AK Party General Secretary Eyyüp Kadir İnan, AK Party deputy chairmen and members of parliament, President of the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution Fahrettin Altun, and Kılıç's relatives.

While Hamdi Kılıç's family accepted condolences in the mosque courtyard, President Erdoğan also went to his relatives and expressed his condolences.

Speaking after the funeral prayer and prayers, President Erdoğan said the following:

Our valued companion, Hamdi, who is currently in the musalla, has been tested by a truly severe illness for a long time. May God change his shortcomings to good deeds. May He honor us with Paradise and His beauty. Our brother Hamdi was a powerful pen, a powerful mind, and a man of thought. As a colleague, he never neglected his work or let his work get in the way. Throughout this entire period, I never witnessed him neglect his work, not even during his illness. Until the very end, and especially when I learned of the part in his will, I prayed to my Lord with this sincere prayer:"O Lord, grant us, God willing, with Your Paradise, Your beauty, and under the banner of Your beloved Beloved, the Liva'ul Hamd." May God also bless the brothers and sisters who are currently attending this funeral prayer. May God grant us reunion and gathering together. Let us all recite a Fatiha here again for their blessed souls.

Following the ceremony, Kılıç was buried in Gölbaşı Cemetery.
