Police have arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing another man in Quarteira on Wednesday, October 29.
PJ police announced the arrest this Monday, saying there are strong indications that the suspect was responsible for the fatal stabbing of a 44-year-old man in the centre of the coastal town.
Investigators say the victim was attacked in public with a sharp object, suffering serious injuries that led to his death later at Faro Hospital.
According to the PJ, the crime appears to have stemmed from a dispute related to drug use and trafficking.
After an intensive investigation, investigators gathered key evidence that allowed them to identify the alleged attacker and obtain an arrest warrant.
The suspect has already appeared before a judge and has been remanded in custody while the investigation continues.
The case is being led by the Department of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution of Loulé.
