Trump's Ultimatum to Russia

Unrelated or Miscellaneous Headlines

Washington/Berlin – US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would supply more weapons to Ukraine. If there is no peace agreement within 50 days, tariffs would also be imposed on Russia's allies.

This is a significantly tougher approach by the new US administration against Russia than before!

Trump announces “very tough tariffs”

Trump made this announcement during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte(58) in the Oval Office.

He said they would be"secondary tariffs," meaning they would target Russia's trading partners to isolate Moscow in the global economy."I use trade for many things," Trump added."But it's great for settling wars."

Trump seemed disappointed with Putin: "I felt like we had an agreement about four times," the Republican said."I've heard so much talk. It's all just talk, and then missiles fly into Kyiv and kill 60 people," Trump said.

Back in April, Trump called on Putin to stop the deadly bombing of Kyiv, and the following month, he declared in a social media post that the Russian leader had"absolutely gone crazy" in the face of the ongoing bombing. Trump admitted,"Putin fooled even me."

In addition to the tariff threat, Trump and Rutte discussed further US arms deliveries to Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stressed that the agreement between NATO and the US means"that Ukraine will get its hands on truly massive quantities of military equipment."

The new arms deliveries are US weapons, which will be paid for by Ukraine's European partners. Trump described the arms deliveries as a business transaction and said that the United States will not use its own resources to support Ukraine.

With this maneuver, Trump aims to appease his ultra-conservative electorate, which had widely called for a halt to US aid to Ukraine. Presumably also addressing his electorate, Trump said:"This is a Biden war, a Democrat war."

As much as Trump wants to take credit for his contribution to ending the war, he is also clear that he does not want to be held responsible for the outcome:"I've said it before. This is not Trump's war," the US President clarified.

According to Rutte, Germany, Finland, Canada, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Denmark are among the buyers of the US weapons that would then be delivered to Ukraine.
