The key role in his arrest after the murder of Kirk was played by members of his family, and this information was confirmed by the governor of Utah.

"A family member of Tyler Robinson contacted a family friend who then contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office with information that Robinson had confessed or implied that he had committed a crime," Utah Governor Spencer Cox said at a joint conference with the FBI.
